Cyber Quarter – The Midlands Centre for Cyber Security

Client: University of Wolverhampton

Our Approach

Located in the Skylon Park Enterprise Zone in Hereford, the new centre will comprise of a 3-storey building of 2,245m² gross floor space. The Centre will allow the University of Wolverhampton to build upon the academic and research expertise it brings in IT innovation and cyber-related fields.

The main goals of The Centre are to provide a testing facility for Internet & Global Information Grid research and facilitate the scientific use of cyber testing methods.

The CLT frame and finishes of the building harness a substantially lower carbon impact with a circa 60% reduction in comparison to a more traditional concrete frame building.

The building also houses a PV array linked to the electrical supply to enable the electrical driven plant and equipment to reduce the amount of electricity consumed from grid. Low energy LED lighting with daylight harvesting minimises the use of artificial lighting, which is paramount in helping to reduce energy demand.

A Yin-and-Yang of Sustainable Construction

The unique fabric of this building, along with the use of sustainable technologies, harnesses the development for new and emerging 21st century technologies and is testament to the Cyber Centre building and the local community and its stakeholders.
