Our 2023: A year of growth, recognition & prosperity

2023 saw us recognised for our continued commitment to sustainability within King Charles III: The Leadership and Vision of a Modern Monarch – the commemorative book in celebration of the King’s milestone birthday. Also celebrating its 75th birthday was the NHS, resulting in its celebratory book also highlighting us for our efforts in supporting the decarbonisation of healthcare estates.

The celebrations continued throughout the year as we made some landmark achievements through various award wins and accolades. This included winning first place in the Project/Initiative of the Year Award at the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) West Midlands Awards for the second year in a row, thanks to the 10 Brindley Place project in Birmingham.

Another highlight was being awarded the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) gold award for dedication to health and safety.

We worked to enhance our ESG initiatives, with our 11 UK offices spending two working days giving back to both the environment and respective local communities. Over the two charity days carried out in May and September, our teams took part in 1,367 hours of volunteering, raising more than £7,500 for multiple charities and deserving causes.

Director Andy Hill, said: “2023 was a year where we made changes to the business to help improve our capacity and capabilities across the board. By opening our new office in Birmingham city centre and expanding our Leeds office, for example, we’ve been able to stay ahead of the curve in what was an incredibly busy year for us.

“Team growth proved to be a key theme for us throughout the year where we had68 new staff join us and 48 of our current team were rewarded with promotions. We’re also looking forward to continuing this team growth throughout 2024. Building and nurturing our team further in 2024 is something that as a business we are looking forward to.”

Towards the end of 2023, three of our team were promoted into director roles. The promotions of Hazel Andrews, Jim Buckley and Jon Willmott demonstrated our significant growth across a variety of disciplines – with the dedicated individuals responsible for sustainability, public health and acoustics respectively.

A standout project for us in 2023 was the flagship £80 million science facility at The University of Birmingham, with framework success being seen throughout the year with University of Cambridge Estates Division's new Consultant Framework, NHS Shared Services Framework and the ForHousing Consultant's Framework to name a few.
