Recognition in Prestigious CIBSE Industry Awards

Industry recognition is aplenty at the moment, and we are excited to reveal that we have been shortlisted for two competitive awards – CIBSE Employer of the Year (medium category) and CIBSE Apprentice of the Year.

The annual CIBSE Young Engineer Awards are open to organisations that proactively champion young people in the building services sector, as well as graduates and apprentices in the industry who showcase their hard work and skills.

Firstly, CPW has been shortlisted for the medium company category in the CIBSE Employer of the Year award. To win the award, organisations must show a commitment to young people in the workplace or support those employees through education. As part of our award entry, we wanted to highlight the passion and experience our MEP engineers bring. “People are our power” is one of the core values that runs throughout CPW, which is why the business commits to investing in developing engineers to ensure they reach their full potential.

Training is at the heart of our offer to young engineers, with a dedicated training team that review requirements for the business, CPD sessions offered by in-house technical experts and manufacturers to demonstrate industry good practice, client secondment opportunities, and trainee mentors. We believe in constant learning and development because it enables us to be the best we can be. Our leadership team has evolved with time, and it is evident that we live our values, with engineers who once joined as trainees now Directors.

Our experience as industry-leading mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and low carbon consultancy has ensured people and businesses realise their vision, and we are always striving to raise the global standards of MEPs whilst building better spaces and places for the world.

In addition, Design Engineer, Lewis Coleing, who joined CPW in 2016 as an Electrical Trainee Design Engineer, has been shortlisted for the CIBSE Apprentice of the Year award. Lewis has been identified as a rising star in the building services sector within the Degree (Level 5-7) category.

Lewis has achieved a BTEC ONC and HNC in Building Services Engineering at Solihull College during his time with us and is currently in the final year of his degree at Coventry University.

Lewis said: “I joined CPW after completing my GCSEs and I have gained valuable experience and skills from my apprenticeship so far, on a practical level and through my studies. I’m looking forward to my graduation and continuing my career. I am extremely grateful that CIBSE has considered me for this year’s Apprentice of the Year and would like to thank CPW and my family for all their support.”

We are thrilled to be shortlisted for two prestigious CIBSE awards. Making the final shortlist is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the CPW team, and Lewis as one of our shining stars. We look forward to hearing if we have won both or either award.

The CIBSE Young Engineers Awards will be held on Tuesday 11 October at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London, where the winners will be announced.
