CPW Supports Local Charities with Autumn Charity Day

Following on from the success in May, on 20 September CPW has held its second charity day of 2024. We closed our doors for the day, providing our staff with a day to get out the office and into their local communities, helping with local causes in need of their support.

With some activities still to take place later in the year, the teams so far have spent 619 hours volunteering and raised over £500. This brings our total for the year so far to 1,601 hours of voluntary work and £2,740 in fundraising.

Our teams got involved in a whole host of activities including:

  • Grounds maintenance

  • Organising and cleaning the children’s playroom in a hospital

  • Operating a litter picking canal robot

  • Volunteering in a charity shop

  • A fundraising diecast racing championship

  • Coffee mornings

  • Litter picking

The teams are all able to pick the charities and causes that mean the most to them. In September we supported:

Dickens Heath School | Solihull Hospital | Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park | Macmillan | Heronfield Animal Rescue | Derbyshire Wildlife Trust | St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School | Canal Connections | Nether Hall School | University College London Hospitals Charity | Acorns Children’s Hospice| Cars Area Together | Parkview Day Centre.

For all their hard work, our teams received some lovely feedback:

Les Basford, Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park Manager: “I have to say that all of you have been extremely industrious, completing all the tasks and jobs allocated to you in record speed and to a very high standard. I hope you will volunteer again as your contribution has been excellent.”

Sarah Naylor, Nether Hall Headteacher: “A huge thank you to you and your colleagues for your incredible efforts on our amazing outdoor learning space recently. Your support has made a huge difference. The space looks beautiful for our sponsored wellbeing walk.”

Judy Tullett, Project Manager, Cars Area Together: “I wanted to send a personal thank you to your folks who did such a wonderful job at Auckland Hall last Friday. They did a brilliant job for us and I am pleased to say that it all survived the monsoon weather at the weekend. At least we can say that the plants are well watered!”

A big well done to all the teams who who have been making a difference to their local communities - we’re so proud to have such passionate, hardworking staff members!
