Our Approach
CPW were appointed via a repeat commission as the M&E consultants for this project, which entails the development of purpose-built high quality student accommodation within the vicinity of the University of Southampton.
The development comprises 525 student bedrooms that are spread across 80 individual cluster flats and 103 separate studio rooms, with communal facilities including a gym, movie room, quiet spaces, cycle storage and parking areas, plus two separately demised retail units.
We proposed a range of energy efficient solutions to the client which included LED lighting, combined heat and power (CHP) plant and whole house heat ventilation recovery, each of which supported the project’s application for a BREEAM rating of Excellent.
This scheme is reflective of the highly contemporary and innovative designs associated with Student Residences and provides an excellent local benchmark for future projects of a similar nature.
The project was successfully completed ahead of programme, which allowed benefit from a healthy soak-test period prior to student occupation.
