CPW project for Cadent Gas wins ESG award
CPW are thrilled that the Cadent Gas building at Prospero Ansty has won the ESG award at the Midlands and Central England regional finals of the British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards.
The BCO awards were held on 19 May at the ICC in Birmingham and recognised projects that demonstrate best practice in office design, fit-out, operation and sustainability, setting the standard for excellence across the sector in the region.
The ESG Award identifies a workplace that will have a game changing influence on the environment, social value, governance, or sustainable outcomes in the commercial building sector.
CPW worked closely with the wider project team, providing the M&E requirements for the 100,000 sq ft purpose-built complex on Ansty Park, Coventry that serves as Cadent Gas’ headquarters. The space was recognised for its impressive design which is focused on employee engagement and the health and wellbeing of occupants.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the project team understood the importance of designing a space that would draw employees into the office as well as prioritising the provision of a safe and healthy working environment.
Its amenities include a light-filled atrium, restaurant, gym, mother and baby rooms, multi-faith areas, outdoor terracing and cycle storage.
The panel also praised efforts to reduce the build’s carbon footprint, with locally sourced materials and the use of the latest technology and energy-saving measures contributing to first-class BREEAM and EPC A+ ratings.
The sustainable measures include air-source heat pumps to mechanical heating and cooling systems, enhanced U-values to external fabric, rainwater harvesting, optimisation of natural light, and significant provision of photovoltaic panels on the roof and incorporated into the brise soleil.
Associate Jeremy Turner said: “I am delighted that this project has been recognised as an outstanding workplace in the Midlands. A lot of work has gone into making this an excellent place to be, incorporating sustainable practices and flexible design. We have our fingers crossed for the national awards now!”
Midlands and Central England winners will be entered into the BCO National Awards on Tuesday 3 October.
